Caleb Anson Davies, Mr

PhD Researcher at Northumbria University

Caleb Anson Davies is a Trainee Educational Psychologist at the University of Manchester and a doctoral researcher at Northumbria University. His work centres on inclusion, wellbeing and belonging in schools.

Caleb currently leads two doctoral projects. At Northumbria University, he is developing a framework of belonging and participation-related constructs to inform the design and evaluation of school interventions, drawing on Delphi consensus methods and systematic review. At the University of Manchester, he is using realist methodology to explore the wellbeing-related outcomes and mechanisms of Philosophy for Children (P4C), combining a systematic review with qualitative work involving practitioners and young people.

His broader research interests lie in promoting inclusive approaches in education and contributing to educational psychology through systematic reviews, school intervention research, measurement tool design and theoretical work.

Originally from Leeds, Caleb came to research through practice. After completing a BSc in Sports Science, he trained and worked as a secondary and sixth form teacher of computer science and psychology, completing an MSc in Psychology alongside his teaching. He then moved into educational psychology, beginning as an Assistant Educational Psychologist at Leeds City Council before starting his professional training. This blend of classroom and applied experience shapes his commitment to research that is rigorous, practically useful and centred on the children and young people it aims to serve.
